Edward Roger Savage Obituary
Edward Roger Savage, age 79, of Atwater, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, in Canton, Ohio.

He was born August 8, 1933, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Peter and Mary (Hudec) Savage. Edward worked as a machine tender in the paper division of Sunoco Products in Munroe Falls, retiring after 29 years of service. He served as a Captain of the Munroe Falls Police Department and a Lieutenant with the Munroe Falls Volunteer Fire Department. While serving in the fire department, Ed was honored for being the first person on scene of the fire at the county home in Munroe Falls.

Mr. Savage was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 37th Division during the Korean War. He later joined VFW Post 4738. Edward was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atwater for 35 years, where he taught welding at the Atwater Christian School. He was also an active contributor of New Life Ministries in Louisville.

Edward loved the outdoors, coffee, ice cream, and cooking a "Savage Special" for his family. He enjoyed riding his tractor through his woods, and mowing his lawn. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, and gave graciously of his time and talents.

Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Anna (Yavornik) Savage, whom he married on May 25, 1968. He is also survived by their children, Craig (Janet) Savage of Louisville, Ohio, Beth Aulis of Florida, and Mary Ann (Darren) Clark of Alliance; as well as grandchildren, Brittany (Matt) Slattery, Scottie Lee IV, Moriah Lee, Emalie (Michael) Laramore, Amber (Josh) Hicks, Craigie Savage, and Jessica Savage; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Don (Jane) Savage of California, Dave (Janice) Savage of Atwater, Rich (Ann) Savage of Atwater, Robert (Carolyn) Savage of Akron, and Chuck (Gloria) Savage of Akron; and his sister, Shirley Bender of Arizona. In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his sons, Eddie and Jeff Savage, his brothers, John and Sonny Savage, and his brother-in-law, George Bender.

Friends will be received on Monday, July 22, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at New Life Ministries, 6140 Louisville Rd., Louisville, OH 44641. Friends may also call an hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service officiated by Pastor Allen Rasnake and Pastor William Kelley on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the church.
