BARBERTON -- Edward S. Custer, 89, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013.|
A resident of Barberton for 60 years, he was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. Ed retired from Bank One after 35 years of service. He was a faithful and devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served on their finance board for over 30 years. He also was a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Mobile for 25 years.
Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Rose Custer and brother, Henry Custer Jr., Ed is survived by his wife of 63 years, Vera; son, Bill (Martha); daughter, Janice (Keith) Voina; grandchildren, Kristen (Pat) Magyar, Melissa Lindley, Sarah Custer and Susie Custer; great-grandson, Landon Magyar. He also leaves behind countless friends and his church family, who will always remember his kindness.
Funeral service will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 139 S. High Street, Akron, Ohio 44308, with Pastor Joshua Schoon and Pastor John Eiwen officiating. Burial at Rose Hill Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
