Frank D. Basile, 90, passed away Feb. 26, 2014.
Frank was born in Akron to the late Dominic and Frances (Randazzo) Basile and lived in Akron all his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as part of the 88th Infantry "Blue Devils" Division. He was a member of the Sicilian Club in the 60's and 70's and an avid manager of Akron Hot Stove Baseball in the 70's and 80's.
Along with his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Delta Mae Basile; son, Dominic Basile; sisters, Santa, Mary, Kay and Juliet; brothers, Romeo and Ross. He is survived by his children, Kimberly Rinker and Dominic, Frank, Robin (Rebecca), Ross (Nancy) and Michael Basile; grandchildren, Dominic, Ross, Kay, Michael, Jane, Dominic, Frank, Josephine, Patricia and Cindy; and sisters, Antoinette and Ann.
Funeral service will be Saturday, 1 p.m. at Hennessy-Bagnoli-Moore Funeral Home, 936 N. Main St., Akron (corner of Mildred and N. Main). Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Frank's final resting place will be Rose Hill Burial Park with American Legion Charles Faust Post 281 conducting military rites.
