Frank Francis, 89, of Aurora, formerly of Ravenna, died Monday, August 5, 2013.
He was born May 7, 1924 in Akron, Ohio to the late Joseph and Rose (Mahofsky) Francis. Frank was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Young at Heart, the Ravenna Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree and Ravenna Jaycees. He graduated from Atwater High School and received his Masters Degree from Kent State University, retiring as a foreman after 40 years at Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Akron, worked for 15 years at Portage Plumbing and served 10 years on Ravenna City Council. Frank was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing at Pigeon Lake in Ontario, Canada with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Madeline (Dubinsky); daughter, Barbara Hritz of Lansdale, Pa.; sons, Bob Francis of Lake Milton and Thomas (Sue) Francis of Streetsboro; grandchildren, Aaron (Sheri), Zachary, Wesley, Amanda (Michael), Elizabeth Hritz, Vince (Terri) Vasickanin, Robin (Don) Carder and Sharon Vasickanin; great-grand-children, Nikki Roman, Katy Roman, Charlie Francis and Audrey Francis; and a brother, Steve (Barbara) Francis of Rootstown. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael; daughter, Janice; and brothers, Joseph Francis and John Francis, Sr.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna, with Fr. David Misbrener and Deacon Russell Brode officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Ravenna.
