Franklin "Ken" Dietzler, 87, of River Falls, Wis., died Friday, March 29, at the River Falls Area Hospital, River Falls.|
Ken was born on Jun 11, 1925 in Shawano, Wis., the son of Frank and Ivadelle (Jacobsen) Dietzler. He was a 1943 graduate of Roberts High School and in 1944 entered the U.S. Navy, where he performed training exercises on a destroyer in later years of World War II.
Upon his honorable discharge 1946 he entered River Falls State Teachers College where he majored in physics and math. In the fall of 1946 he met Delores Hauth, a young secretary from River Falls. They were united in marriage in 1948. To this union a son, Daniel was born.
Ken's career path took him to the U of M and later to the Goodyear Corporation. After a few years he and Delores moved to Akron, Ohio, where Ken was instrumental in introducing computers to the Goodyear Corp. In his 25 years with Goodyear he went from supervising a staff of one to a staff of 30.
In 2004, Ken and Delores made their home in River Falls to be close to family. Ken was from a generation that believes in integrity, hard work, and humility, with a sincere desire of giving back. He was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church, River Falls, Wis.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Delores of River Falls, Wis.; sister, Helen Werner of Maple Grove, Minn.; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
His son, Daniel, in 1970, parents, and his brother, Howard, preceded him in death.
Funeral Mass 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2013, St. Bridget Catholic Church, River Falls; Rev. Gerald Harris will officiate. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass. Memorials are preferred to St. Bridget School, 135 E. Division St., River Falls, WI 54022.
