Born in Akron, Fred lived most of his life in the Akron area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Edna (Cory) Ellis and brother, Joseph Ellis, Jr.
Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Europe. He worked as an industrial designer in the automotive industry, retiring from Chrysler. Fred loved jazz, Japanese food (especially sushi), traveling the globe, singing (he had a beautiful voice), sailing (he had raced as part of a racing team). He was a collector of art and an accomplished photographer. Fred loved people and was a charming and generous man. He was very intelligent and had a unique and delightful perspective on life.
Fred is survived by niece, Julie Ellis of Miami, Fla.; nephews, Matthew Ellis of Sicklerville, NJ and Paul Ellis of Herndon, Va.; he is also survived by two great-nephews;, many cousins, and numerous friends who will miss him greatly.
In lieu of other remembrances, donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 215 Falls Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. or William's Legacy, 3122 Hayne Rd., Akron, OH 44312. A Memorial Mass and inurnment will be held at a later date.
