Gladys L. Cunningham, age 84, of Canton, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Aultman Compassionate Care Center after a short courageous battle with cancer.|
She was born in Akron on June 17, 1929 to the late Dorsa and Avie (Evans) Sayre. She was a 1949 graduate of Greensburg High School and went on to work and later retire from Furbay Electric Supply of Canton. Gladys was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #3747.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Sayre.
Gladys is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Richard J. Cunningham, Sr.; children, Richard J. Cunningham, Jr., Dianne J. (Chuck) Nichols, and Paul J. Cunningham; grandchildren, Alexa, Nicholas, and Sara Cunningham, and many close friends.
Gladys was a kind and caring woman who was always there whenever needed, and she will be sadly missed.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Aultman Hospice and The Aultman Compassionate Care Center for their excellent care given to Gladys during her illness.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no calling hours or services planned. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in her name to the Aultman Compassionate Care Center (2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW Canton, OH 44708).
