Jack W. Dorricott, 87, passed away August 10, 2014 after a 12 year journey with Alzheimer's disease.

He was born in Akron, served in the Unites States Navy, and attended the College of Wooster, UCLA, and Kent State University. He became a professor of law and received his doctorate while teaching at Kent State. He retired from The University of Akron as a professor in the school of law in 1989. He also worked part-time at the Akron Beacon Journal.

Jack loved his family, learning, reading, and was a very gifted athlete. He enjoyed skiing and playing golf with his family and friends. He was a member of Reimer Road Baptist Church in Wadsworth.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, George and Kathryn Dorricott; sister and brother-in-law, Jean (Bill) Esselstein; and nephew, Harold Esselstein. He is survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Theresa and his children, Kathryn (Charles) Korb of Washington State, Tom Dorricott of Michigan, Jill Dorricott of Michigan, Jane (Mark) Fowl of Arizona, and Nita (Bob) Seger of Michigan. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Emily, Jillian, Trevor, Katie, Hannah, Alex, Cole and Samantha; great-granddaughter, Olivia; and former wife, Juanita. He also leaves Theresa's children, Kathy, Ann, Matthew, June, Kerby, PJ, Mike, Becky, and families.

Special thanks to all the loving staff of Hospice, especially our nurse, Becky and Leslie, our music angel. Thanks also to the staff of The Briarwood, especially Brian, for his loving care of Jack and gentle presence to the family. Thanks to PJ and Mary for the kindness and support. Thanks to Karin and Rodi for your love and support as well.

As per Jack's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private funeral service was held at Reimer Road Baptist Church. There will be no calling hours. Jack will be buried with his family in Danville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Reimer Road Baptist Church, 1055 Reimer Rd., Wadsworth, OH 44281 or Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, Ridgewood Rd., Akron, Ohio.
