James Owen "Jim" Edmundson Obituary
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- James O. Edmundson was born in Akron, Ohio on June 25, 1922.

He graduated from Copley High School in 1940, attended one year at Kent State University and one year at Bob Jones College in Tennessee. After his second year of college he worked for Firestone Products in Akron.

In 1943, he enrolled at the University of Virginia and joined the Navy V-12 program. After graduating in 1944, he attended Princeton Seminary, receiving his degree in 1947. Upon graduation, he accepted a Youth Pastor position at First Presbyterian Church in Alhambra, Calif. Jim came back to Akron briefly to marry Mary Jane Nuzum on June 27, 1948. The couple returned to California and their first son John was born May 2nd the following year. Three months after this event, Jim moved his family to Central Montana where he pastored The Federated Church in Harlowton. Second son Daniel was born there on June 7, 1953.

In 1963, the family of four moved to Omaha, Neb. where Jim pastored East Side Presbyterian Church. In 1972, he resigned from the Presbyterian denomination and was ordained as a Baptist minister. In 1973, with both sons in college, Jim and Jane moved back to Ohio pastoring Hinckley Ridge Baptist Church in Hinckley. Jim retired from the pulpit in 1987 and he and Jane moved to Cuyahoga Falls where he actively served as a volunteer pastor at Northampton Bible Church.

Jim's bride Jane passed away in November of 2002. He continued with his active agenda of ministry until the end of 2012. He went home to Heaven on Sunday, April 14, 2013.

James is survived by his sons, John David (Joy) of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Daniel Arl (Sharon) of Gainesville, Fla.; grandchildren, Nathan, Chad, Justin (Mary), Gussy (Alicia), and Olivia Jane; brother, Daniel Lee (Joyce) of Lompoc, Calif.; sister, Phyllis Mae Cox of Costa Mesa, Calif.; and his caregiver, Diana.

Friends may call at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 19. Funeral service will be held at the Northampton Bible Church, 333 W. Steels Corners Rd., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223 on Saturday, April 20, at 2 p.m., Pastor John Hopson officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
