John H. Austin Sr.|
John H. Austin Sr., 90, went home to be with his Lord on July 7, 2014.
Born in Cass, W. Va. on March 2, 1924 to Glen and Kinsey Harmon Austin, he was an area resident most of his life. John was a 1942 graduate of Springfield H.S. and a World War II Navy veteran. He retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber with 39 years of service and was a long time member of Akron Springfield Assembly of God.
John, a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Evelyn and son, Daniel. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Helen Magrell Austin and her daughters, Pamela Morgan and Deborah (Ronald) Hanes; sons, John Jr. (Carolyn), Ronald (Barbara), and Mark (Diane); brother, Bernard; sisters, Nadine Rueschman, JoAnn Werner; and many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Visitation Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Akron Springfield Assembly of God, where funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Joseph B. Serbin officiating.
