John Joseph Misciagna Obituary
John Joseph Misciagna, 88, of Northfield, Ohio, formerly of Altoona, Pa., was born on November 8, 1923 and passed away on November 5, 2012.

He was born son of the late Gennaro Misciagna of La Riccia, Italy and Guiseppine (Maitino) Misciagna of Carpinone, Italy.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jean Misciagna (nee Chidsey) of Brunswick, Ohio. He was the loving father of Michael (Pam) of Northfield, John of Northfield, Mary (Karen) of Charlotte, N.C. and Susan of Columbus; father-in-law of Janit Misciagna, deceased; grandfather of Theresa, Tony, Stefanie and Timothy; and great-grandfather of Bianca, Angelina, Colin and Katie. John is survived by brothers, Michael of Long Beach, Calif., and Nicholas of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sisters, Esther Dorazio and Mary Carnell of Altoona, Pa., Evelyn Urbanek of Coupon, Pa., and Dolores Johnston (Charles) of Dupont, Pa. He was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry, Chester and Rocco; sisters, Josephine Haselbarth and Edith Altiero; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Dorazio, Donald Carnell Sr. and Clair Urbanek Sr.; and sister-in-law, Hazel.

He was an active member of St. Barnabas Church of Northfield, Ohio and a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in France during World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sons of Italy. He graduated college from Shippensburg State College in Pennsylvania. John was retired from General Motor's Terex Division in Hudson, Ohio. He played softball for the Silver League in Akron from 1995-2006. He coached Little League baseball in the Nordonia Hills Athletic Association. After retiring, he also enjoyed collecting and selling baseball cards and tools.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to your local Hospice or St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 9451 Brandywine Rd., Northfield, OH 44067 where Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. Prayers at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. Friends will be received WEDNESDAY, 5 to 8 p.m. at JOHNSON-ROMITO FUNERAL HOME, 99 W. AURORA RD. (RT. 82 1 MILE WEST OF RT. 8), NORTHFIELD, OHIO 44067. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 480 W. Highland Road, Northfield, OH 44067.
