John William Alspach, Sr.|
John William Alspach, Sr., 91, went to be with our Lord on Friday, December 6, 2013 at Sandusky Soldier and Sailor Nursing home in Sandusky, Ohio.
John was born June 4, 1922 to the late Loran and Alice Alspach in Delphos, Ohio. He was preceded in death by parents and daughter, Jean (Peachy) Spencer. He graduated from East High School in 1939. John served in the Navy during World War ll in the Carrier Aircraft Service Unit 36. John met his beautiful bride Jean Marie Brackin and they were married in Ft. Worth, Texas on February 19, 1944. In 1942, John began a long career at Goodyear. He retired in 1992 after working for 50 years. During that time he only missed two days of work. John loved to spend most of his spare time outside working on his goat farm.
John is survived by his wife, Jean; son, John (Lee) Alspach, Jr. of Topeka, Kan.; son, David (Kimberly) Alspach of Kent, Ohio; daughter, Susan (Mike) Thomas of Kent, Ohio and son, Jeffrey (Beverly) Alspach of Orion, Mich.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; four sisters; and one brother.
He was preceded in death by parents; daughter, Jean Marie (peachy); three brothers; four sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the NEOUCOM on Rt. 44 in Rootstown, Ohio at 11 a.m., with his friend and Pastor Dr. Karl Fry officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthew's Church, P.O. Box 774, Vermillion, OH 44089 and Stein Hospice at 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870. Steinhospice.org.
