Joseph B. Hunt, 90, went home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2013.|
He was born on October 4, 1922 in Akron, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn I. Hunt to whom he was married for 60 years, and his son, Joseph B. Hunt II who passed away at age 9. He was a wonderful father to his daughter, Ruth and son-in-law Rev. Jeral Davis. He will be greatly missed by grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Self of Akron, Jerry (Elizabeth) Davis of Wadsworth, Joanna (Luke) LaVan of Virginia. He also leaves his great-grandchildren, Jessica, Jeffrey, Jerrod and Joey Self; Kelsy LaVan and Aiden Davis; also a number of nieces and nephews.
Joseph was a charter member of the Barberton Bible Holiness Church. He served his church faithfully as Trustee, Treasurer, Choir Leader, Song Leader and soloist for many years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Coast Guard. He was a small machine repairman, certified electrician in the Coast Guard; worked for 15 years at B.F. Goodrich and ultimately retired from Sedlak as a mail-room supervisor.
The family would like to thank the Apostolic Christian Home of Rittman, Ohio for their loving and dedicated care of Joseph for the last nearly five years of his life.
The funeral service will be held at the Barberton Bible Holiness Church on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. The church is located at 375 37th Street SW in Barberton. Officiating at the service is Rev. Jeral Davis and Rev. Luke LaVan. Burial will take place 2 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery Monday, April 22, 2013. Calling hours will be held at Cox Funeral Home, 222 Norton Ave. Barberton, on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. (COX, BARBERTON, 330-745-3311)
