Katrina (Hetzner) Longenecker Obituary
NAPLES, Fla. -- Katrina Hetzner Longenecker, age 96, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2012.

A twenty-four year resident of Moorings Park Retirement Community in Naples, Fla., Katrina was born to Clara and Louis Hetzner in Peru, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Mark Hershey Longenecker and siblings, Louis and Cornelius Hetzner and Nancy Van Kirk. She is survived by her children, Katrina Nummela of Rocky River, Ohio, and Mark (Marcie) Longenecker, Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Rebecca (Wally) Anders, Jill (Dan) Roman, Debra (Bill) Patterson, Emily and Chip Longenecker; and great-grandchildren, Molly, Peter, and Margaux; brother, Philip Hetzner; sister, Barbara Scherer; and many nieces and nephews.

Katrina attended Indiana University and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She and Mark moved to Akron, Ohio in 1937 and were active in community life for the next forty years. She was an early member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, a lifelong collector of antiques and enjoyed serving on the board of Akron City Hospital.

In Naples, she belonged to Moorings Presbyterian Church, the Country Club of Naples and the Naples Art League, having taken up acrylic painting at the age of 60.

The family is grateful to the dedicated staffs at Moorings Park and Avow Hospice for their loving care of Katrina.

A family memorial service will be held in Rocky River, Ohio at a later date.
