Lairold "Larry" M. Street passed away peacefully in Washington, D.C., on December 17, 2013, at age 63 from Alzheimers. He was born in Akron, Ohio, to Ruby V. Street and Alonza J. Street.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Ferger; his son, Chipalo; his daughter, Jalika; his mother, Ruby; his brothers, Ronald (and Dianne) Street, and Alonza J. ("Ricky" or "Al") Street; his sister, Angela (and Dennis) Street-Underwood; and many wonderful aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He graduated from Garfield High School in 1970 where he was president of the student government and on the wrestling team, among many activities. He got his BA from Oberlin College, his MA from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and his JD from Indiana University Law School. He worked for 25 years in Washington, D.C., as a well-respected lawyer for several federal agencies. He was known for his friendliness, hard work, intellect, and passion for social justice in the U.S., Africa, and the world.
