Louis Church |
Louis Church, 92, passed away June 15, 2014.
He was born January 16, 1922 in Cass, W.Va. to the late Conley and Mame Church. Louis graduated from Garfield High School and the University of Akron, served his country during World War II with the Army Air Corp and worked for the White Rubber Company in Ravenna, which allowed him to travel extensively throughout much of the United States. He was an avid reader, especially history and mysteries and enthusiastically and anxiously watched Ohio State football and basketball.
Louis was a quiet and gentle man. You could count on one hand the number of times his voice rose in anger. He firmly believed in not saying anything if he didn't have anything good to say. As a lifelong, proud Democrat, he followed current events and politics and loved talking about the state of the world. Though he lacked words to express himself, he unconditionally and generously loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, plus, his large extended family.
Louis was preceded in death by brothers, Conley and Edward; and sister, Wanda. He greatly missed his beloved brother, Eddie, who had become his best friend. He is survived by children, Judith, Janet (William) Riley and Dennis (Cathleen); seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and sister, Doris.
Per Louis's request cremation has taken place and the family will attend a private burial service at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. To leave a special message online for the family, visit our website at www.schermesserfh.com.
