Mike was born in Akron, Ohio on October 25, 1919 to James and Anna Politz. Raised on Tyler Street in Akron, Ohio, Mike graduated from South High School in 1938. He was always willing to share the many stories of his childhood in the Akron area. Proud of his Sicilian heritage, Mike also took pride in being one of the participants in the 1st American Soap Box Derby and in 2009 had the honor of participating in and winning the Oil Can Derby. Mike married Maxine on May 10th, 1940 and spent the last 73 years together residing in Cuyahoga Falls. Among Mike's many activities he enjoyed woodworking, golf, bowling and spending time with his family, particularly on his porch, Susie's Porch. We will always have fond memories of the time spent on that porch enjoying stories, songs and harmonica playing with friends and neighbors.

Grandpa, we can't thank you enough for the many wonderful years of memories that we will always treasure. Holding our hands when we were little, taking us to the Vets club to have a ginger ale and popcorn, spending hours in the garage working on projects as well as time well spent on the golf course. You will always be in our hearts.
