Nancy Joan Blair, age 69, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013 and was a resident of Hills and Dales Village. |
Nancy was born in Canton on April 24, 1943 to the late Edmund L. and Rachel B. Blair. Nancy was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church of Canton and had been made a member of the Order of St. Ignatius of Antioch. Nancy was one of the longest serving participants in MRDD of Stark County. She was also a volunteer at Senior Independent of North Canton. Nancy was a joy to her family and all who knew her. She spent her life wanting to serve and help others.
She is survived by her brother, William P. Blair III of the residence; her companion and special friend, Jodie Mahoney; she is also survived by her aunt, Elizabeth (Bette) Betros of Bath Twp., Ohio; her cousins, Joyce Esber of North Carolina, Elaine (George) Betros of Canada, Thomas (Kathy) Esber of California, Christine (Michael) Mack of Bath Twp, Ohio, Jean Kazlusky of Michigan, Colonel Joseph (Madge) Kazlusky of Arizona, and Carole Zapoli of Texas.
Nancy was especially proud of her participation in the Special Olympics as a bowler and won numerous medals.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at St. George Antiochian Church, 1122 Cherry St. N.E., with the Rev. Fr. Michael Corbin and the Rev. Fr. Basil Shaheen officiating. Calling hours will be at the church on Sunday, April 14th from 5 to 7 in the evening and at 10:30 on Monday, April 15 immediately preceding the service. Trisagion Services will be held Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Contributions made be made in Nancy's name to the Stark County MRDD, Senior Independent of North Canton, St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church or the Canton Symphony Orchestra Association.
