Richard Lee Wiland Obituary
CLERMONT, Fla. -- Richard Lee Wiland, 66, passed away July 11, 2013.

He was born in Akron and resided in Clermont, Florida.

Richard served his country as a corporal in the USMC during the Vietnam War serving in the Force Recon Unit, where he received many special commendations including a Purple Heart. He went on to work for the Northampton Police Department and then retired from the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department in 1999. After retiring and moving to Florida, he worked for 12 years as a security officer for Disney.

Richard enjoyed his RV, boating, shooting and riding his Gold Wing.

Preceded by his mother, Mary E. (Wiland) Miller; father, William C. Wiland; and stepfather, Ellis C. Miller; he is survived by his daughter, Dawn Spencer of Cuyahoga Falls; granddaughters, Destiny and Kala; grandson, Paul Jr.; sisters, Bea Jay (Joel) Beswetherick, Jodie (Russell) Gross, Debbie Kay Miller; brothers, Timmy Wiland, Terry Wiland and Guy (Vickie) Miller; stepbrothers, Robert (Denise) Miller and Larry (Diane) Miller; stepsister, Vickie Hollaway; special friends, Norma Sanders, Dale Gramley, Preston Johnson and Jeff Balding; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial calling will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. A funeral procession will form at the funeral home and leave promptly at 12:15 on Thursday, July 25 for Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
