Russel Stanley Boesch, age 96, passed peacefully September 29, 2012.|
He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Russel was born in Cleveland to Irma and Dietrich Boesch, and after moving to Mentor at the age of 12, graduated from Mentor High School in 1934.
He was preceded in death earlier this year by his beloved wife of 64 years, Jacqueline. Russel leaves behind daughters, Kathy Boesch and Carolyn Lappert; sons, Steve (Dana) and Mark (Mary); grandchildren, Stephanie Boesch, Bryan and Jessica Lappert, and Alison Boesch; and former daughter-in-law, Linda Bloniarz.
As a member of "America's Greatest Generation", Russel's life was molded by the events of the Great Depression and World War II. Russel enlisted in the Army Air Corps shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 and spent the remainder of the War in Iceland as a staff sergeant. After the War, Russel returned to Cleveland to begin his career in finance, sales, and management. In 1947,Russel moved to Akron, where he met his wife, Jacque, and started his family. He lived the rest of his life in Summit County.
Having spent his formative years on a farm, Russel had a life-long love of gardening and working in his yard. He also enjoyed golf, bowling and other outdoor activities.
The family would like to thank the staff of Rockynol and Hospice of Summa for the loving care they gave to Russel.
A memorial service celebrating Russel's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Russel's name to Rockynol Life Care Fund, 1150 W.
