We mourn the loss of our beloved Sarah Jayne McClain who sadly left us to early on July 18, 2014.
Sarah was born June 14, 1975 in Elyria, Ohio. She was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, aunt, friend and servant. Sarah was a graduate of Medina High School and Alumni of Central State University. She was employed by Blick Clinic, were she took a role as a licensed social worker, assisting, counseling, and teaching the mentally handicapped and disabled the way of everyday life so that they could live a confident independent lifestyle. Sarah also was a member of the House of the Lord, were she was a facilitator for the Pioneer Girls, member of the elite Sorority Sigma Gamma RHO, and ETA Delta & Delta Omega Chapter. As a rarity Sarah played Women's Professional Football for the Syracuse Sting, and was a founder of the Dayton Rebellion, and finally, as a member of Ohio's first all breast cancer survivor Dragon Dream Team. Sarah walked in the team motto, "Moving Forward and Celebrating life after Breast Cancer."
She is survived by her sisters, Thais (Jay) Whitehurst, Vernell McClain; brothers, Robert and Seth McClain; nieces, Cecelia McClain and Tameria Inman; and a host of additional nieces, nephews, beloved uncles, and family and friends.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Sharon McClain, and sister Stacey McClain.
Services will be held Wednesday, at 11:30 a.m., at The House of the Lord, 1650 Diagonal Road, Akron, OH 44320. Pastor Dennis Butts will officiate. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
