CUYAHOGA FALLS, OHIO/WILMINGTON, N. C.
Stewart Lee Brown, age 89, was born in Akron, Ohio, April 2, 1925, to Donald and Vera Brown. In his teenage years, his family moved to Bath, Ohio where his athletic talents were put to use by most of the Bath High School sports teams. After graduation, Stewart enlisted in the Army and was sent to Europe during World War II. He earned a Purple Heart from injuries sustained during the Battle of the Bulge.
Returning from the war, Stewart attended Kent State University and joined his father in the advertising business. He married Nancy Orr and the couple moved to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio raising two sons, Jeffrey and Timothy. Stewart subsequently founded Stewart Brown and Associates advertising agency where he worked until his retirement. Stewart married Judith Jordan of Cuyahoga Falls in 1961. The couple had a son, Anthony, and lived in Silver Lake until Judy's passing in 1988.
After living at various locales in the greater Akron area, Stewart moved to Wilmington, North Carolina in 2006 to be closer to his son Timothy and family.
Stewart was an avid golfer and a silver life master bridge player. To the very last year of his long life he could be found attending, and at times instructing, several bridge tournaments every week. Stewart was also a "hot car" enthusiast who only reluctantly moved to a Toyota Prius at the end of his driving career.
Stewart is survived by his sons, Jeffrey (Connie) of Madison, Wisconsin, Timothy (Sandy) of Wilmington, North Carolina, Anthony (Diane) of Norwalk, Connecticut; and grandchildren, Justin (Selena), Nathan, Colin, Jordan and Aidan. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Hewett, his first wife, Nancy, and his wife, Judy.
