Thomas Cady Brownfield|
Thomas Cady Brownfield, age 81, of Spring Hill, Fla., formerly of Canal Fulton, Ohio, passed away Dec. 21, 2013, after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's Disease.
Tom served in the U.S. Navy from 1949-1953, and the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1957. Tom met his wife of 47 years, Joetta, while they worked together at Barberton Public Library. They were married in 1965 and bought a home in Canal Fulton. Both Tom and Joetta worked at Canal Fulton Public Library for several years, where he was the director until retiring in 1996.
Thomas was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Elsie Brownfield of Akron; brother, Robert (Mary Jo) of West Akron; sister, Marjorie (William) Kollar of Cuyahoga Falls; and brother, John "Jack" of Akron.
He is survived by stepson, Craig (Cheryl) Hinebaugh of New Port Richey, Fla.; stepdaughter, Claudia Hinebaugh Smith of Akron, Ohio and stepdaughter, Cynthia (Jeffery) Sandmann of Hudson, Fla.; as well as five grandchildren, one great-grandson; and sister, Sally Brownfield Modarelli Petrovich of Uniontown, Ohio.
Tom was a member of Mensa. He loved books, a good beer and a motorcycle ride in the summertime.
