Valerie Jeannette (Haynes) Smith Obituary
Our precious Valerie, along with her unborn son, Donté Anthony Smith Jr. "DJ", died peacefully and unexpectedly while traveling to Texas to join her husband, a member of the U.S. Air Force at Goodfellow Air Force Base.

Valerie leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Airman Donté Smith of Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas and Akron, Ohio; her parents, Rick and Beth Haynes of Akron; sisters, Anne (Joe) Raley of Washington, D.C., Erica Haynes (John Selzer) of Akron, Kat Heinzmann of Germany, Cristi Peddis of Italy, and Carol Marafon of Brazil/Spain; mother-in-law, Tammie Smith of Akron; grandmother, Louise Johnston of Akron; grandfather, John (Agnes) McElrath of Akron; many cousins, aunts, and uncles from the U.S. and Canada.

Besides her large extended family, Valerie leaves to mourn her many friends from Spring Garden Waldorf School, North High School, and Trinity United Church of Christ.

Valerie had been a dedicated employee of Blick Clinic and Hope Homes.

We will miss Valerie's loving smile, her magical laugh, and her joyful singing.

Valerie brightened our lives and left us a treasure chest of memories--- memories that will live in our hearts forever.

A celebration service, conducted by Reverend Carl Wallace, will be held at Trinity United Church of Christ, 915 N. Main St. in Akron on Friday, July 12th, 2013 at 11 a.m. Family and friends will be received at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the service. A funeral procession will form at HENNESSY-BAGNOLI FUNERAL HOME, 936 N. MAIN ST., AKRON, and will travel to Rose Hill Burial Park following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Valerie's memory to the or to a memorial fund in Valerie's name at any First Merit Bank.
