Walter Lynn Walsh, 80, of Randolph, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 25, 2013.
Walter was born on August 28, 1932 in Warick, Ohio to parents, George "Royce" and Isabelle Walsh. After graduating high school, Walter went directly into the Army in December of 1952 and was a corporal serving in the Korean war where he earned the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star, the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, the Korean Service Ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal. After his service, he returned home and began a career with East Ohio Gas Co., retiring as a field supervisor after 37-½ years. Walter loved gardening and grew just about everything. He was a former councilman in Clinton, Ohio and was a member of the Mogodore VFW. He truly enjoyed travelling with his wife, Eula.
Surviving Walter is his wife of 57 years, Eula Walsh; and his children, Gary Walsh, Thomas Walsh, and Pamela (Jim) Sutcliffe. He also leaves his grandchildren, Wayland "Walt" Snyder-Walsh, Joshua Dean Walsh, Wesley Brian Walsh, Holly Marie Walsh, Michael Lynn Walsh, and Jimmy, Joey, and Christopher Walsh. Surviving also are his great-grandchildren, Peyton and Mya Sutcliffe and Alex and Spencer Walsh. Walter also leaves his sisters, Sandra (Edwin) Dreury, Pat (Bill) Simmons, Jean (Ronnie) Steiner and Jolane (Phil) Billings.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents.
Family will receive friends at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., where funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 11 a.m., with Pastor David Ballert officiating.
