Zora Frances "Fran" Lucas, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Gaslite Villa Assisted Living facility in Canal Fulton, Ohio after a courageous five-year battle with breast cancer.|
Mom was born March 27, 1924 in Pelham, Tenn. Her parents, James B. and Edna E. Wilson, moved to Akron, Ohio to work at General Tire Rubber Co. She was a graduate of Springfield High School, class of 1942. She married Charles C. Lucas in 1944 and he preceded her in death July 1989.
She leaves behind a son, James C. Lucas; daughter, Beverly F. (Lucas) Roop (Gary L.); grandchildren, David James Roop of Marysville, Ohio and Trisha Elaine (Roop) Bellar, (David) of Lafayette, La.; great-grandchildren, Nicole Leanna, Rachel Ann and Joshua David Bellar. A sister and brother-in-law, Faye E. and Walter A. Reid of Westerville, Ohio, formerly of Bath, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews in the Akron area.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was an avid reader, played bridge with the same group of ladies for nearly 50 years, and she loved to travel with her friends and family. She was able to travel to all states, the last being Hawaii in 2002.
According to my mother's wishes, there will not be a funeral service and cremation has taken place. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park beside her husband.
I want to thank the staff at Green View Assisted Living in Green for their many years of care and love, Gaslite Villa in Canal Fulton, and Louise Hellwig, RN and staff of Asera Care Hospice for their love and understanding.
