Feb 15, 1917 - Nov 14, 2013 MUSTANG Alonzo Omega "Lonnie" Calvert, age 96, died peacefully in his sleep Thursday, November 14, 2013, at Norman VA Center after a time of failing health. He was born February 15, 1917, in Mustang, OK to George and Minnie (Todd) Calvert. He attended Mustang schools until his senior year and lived his entire life in the Mustang Community other than when he was serving his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII, where he spent most of his military time in the European Theater. Lonnie was a self-employed brick/concrete block mason as well as being a builder and master craftsman. He loved to hunt and fish when time permitted. Lonnie gave his heart to the Lord at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mustang many years ago. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Veterans Center in Norman as well as to Valir Hospice for their wonderful care these past few months. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of his son, Lonnie, Juanita Muir Brandt Calvert; four brothers, Homer, Ike, Hiram, and Frank; as well as two sisters, Edith and Veta. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Verna Lee; one son, Lonnie Edward and wife Karen, of Mustang; two grandsons, Steve and Richard; four great-grandchildren, Mandy, Nicole, Blake, and Craig; and two great-great- grandchildren, Carson and Stevie Jo. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013, in the Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang, OK, with interment following in the Mustang Cemetery.
