Nov 16, 1939 - Jan 17, 2014 JEFFERSON CITY, MO Bobby Joe Qualls, 74, Retired Captain of the Oklahoma City Fire Department, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014, in Jefferson City, MO, with his family at his side, after a three-year battle with cancer. He was born November 16, 1939, in Paden, OK to Elzie David and Wilma Fern (Vanzant) Qualls. Bobby was a Captain with the Oklahoma City Fire Department, retiring in 1981. Bobby earned many awards for his selfless valor during his twenty-year career as a Oklahoma City firefighter. Bobby is survived by his wife Arla; four children, one brother, two sisters, a sister-in-law, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Visitation is 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday, January 20 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Jefferson City, MO, with Funeral Service following at 1 p.m. Bobby will take his last ride on an Old American LaFrance Fire Truck to his final resting place at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
