CastropSept 28, 1929 - July 4, 2014 YUKON Ferdinand G. "Ferd" Castrop, age 84 was born Sept. 28, 1929, in Freeburg, MO to George and Celestine Castrop and passed away July 4, 2014, in Yukon, OK. Ferd graduated from Freeburg High School in 1947 and married his high school sweetheart, Rosemary, in 1951 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, MO. He attended St. Benedict's College in Atchison, KS and University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. He served two years active duty in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Frontier Airlines for 33 years as a station manager, having lived in Flagstaff, AR; Imperial, NE; and Kearney, NE; then moving to Yukon in 1979. After retirement, he became active in volunteer work. He was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and VFW. In addition to his parents; he was also preceded in death by infant son, John; infant great-granddaughter, Madelyn; one brother and five sisters. He is survived by wife of 62 years, Rosemary, of the home; three sons, Mark, of Jefferson City, MO; Sam & wife Carla, of Olathe, KS; and Damon, of Noel, MO; three daughters, Geri & husband Kalon Degenhardt, of Tablerock, MO; Lori Scott, of Oklahoma City; and Nan & husband John Holt, of Tulsa, OK; twelve grandchildren; brother, Daniel & wife Dorothy Castrop, of El Reno, OK; and sister, Julie Luetkemeyer, of Jefferson City, MO; as well as numerous other relatives and many friends. Memorial donations may be made to St. John Nepomuk Catholic School, P.O. Box 850249, Yukon, OK 73085; or the Hospice of Oklahoma County Foundation, Dept 1107470, 3300 NW Expy, Oklahoma City, OK 73112-9988. Viewing will be on Monday, July 7, 2-5 p.m. at Yanda & Son Funeral Home, Yukon. Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday with Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, July 8 at 10 a.m., followed by interment at the Yukon Cemetery.
