Was born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, and passed away in Scottsdale, Arizona, on March 23, 2013, at the age of 73. He earned his medical degree and did his residency at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. In 1972, he opened Aspen, Colorado's first OB-GYN practice. He left in 1979 to do a Fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago. He taught medicine at the University of Utah before moving to Oklahoma City, where he became a full professor and chief of maternal fetal medicine in the Department of OB-GYN at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Gary loved his work as a professor, but completed his career in medicine at the Sisters of Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, where he established the Springfield Perinatology Center in 1996. In spite of a full career teaching and practicing medicine, Gary made time for other passions and adventures. He piloted his own plane for many years, loved riding his Harley-Davidson, and thoroughly enjoyed scuba diving and traveling. He retired from medicine in 2006 and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, with his wife Sally, who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter Suzy, her husband, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. His good humor and abiding zest for life will be missed by family, friends, colleagues and patients.
