April 23, 1934 - Dec 17, 2012 MIDWEST CITY Gene A. Currid passed into the presence of the Lord on December 17, 2012. Born in Taunton, MA to Harold and Nellie Currid, Gene was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and Korean War Veteran (Army and Navy), who drove an 18-wheeler for over 56 years. He and his wife have lived in Midwest City and Choctaw for the past 40 years. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Diana; daughters, Christy Higdon and Melissa Pratt; and sons, Arch Currid, Kenneth Bledsoe and Loyd Hollis. He has 13 grandchildren and four great-grandsons. A celebration of Gene's life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 20th at Bible Baptist Church, 11498 N.E. 10th, Choctaw, OK 73020. Visitation will be held 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. today at the Barnes Friederich Funeral Home in Midwest City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to, "A Place of Honor, Midwest City Veterans Memorial," in care of the Midwest City Rotary Club.
