Dec. 3, 1919 - Oct. 28, 2013 MIDWEST CITY James S. Haislip born December 3, 1919 in Dellrose, Tenn., died October 28, 2013. He lost his father when he was ten days old and his mother when he was 4. He was raised by his grandmother until age 10. He then went to his uncles farm and said he was worked like a mule. At age 17 he joined the C.C.C. and worked with them 2 years. At age 19 he joined the Army. He was in Patton's Army and landed in France June 20, 1944. He was with Patton thru France, Holland and Germany. He was discharged June 17, 1945. Having earned 3 bronze service stars. He worked several jobs in Shawnee and at Tinker AFB. Taking early retirement at age 52. He was active in the Moose, American Legion and VFW Post 7192 where he was a life time member and past Commander three times. He had a tough life and was a tough man. He was generous and helpful to all people, but had no tolerance for fools. He was loved and respected by many. He was married to Veda Mae Haislip, who preceded him in death in 2005, and daughter, Shirley Santos in 2013. He is survived by daughters: Frances Traweek and husband Toby, Anita Neves and husband Louis, Donna Vise; 8 grandchildren: Paul Traweek, Katrina Leonard, Vicky Johnson, Lisa Pugh, Jalene Rosier, James Vise, Gary Vise, Deann Vise; 11 great grandchildren; beloved companion Bitzy; and many friends. The family would like to give special thanks to beloved friends Ann, Terri & Sandy, Crossroads Hospice, Care Plus Home Health. Funeral services will be 2PM, Friday, November 1, 2013, at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home with burial to follow at Dale Cemetery.
