JOHN HARRINGTON Obituary

May 1, 1930 - July 3, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY John C. Harrington, Jr. was born in Oklahoma City on May 1, 1930, to John C. Harrington ''Bus'' and Catherine Dean Harrington. He passed away on July 3, 2013, after a short illness. John lived a great life. After graduating from Classen High School, John attended Yale University and The University of Oklahoma College of Law. John practiced law in Oklahoma City for more than 38 years. He was a voracious reader, an avid tennis player, was a strong proponent of education and loved going to OU football games every fall. During his life, John was a member of Rotary Club of Oklahoma City Club 29, The Men's Dinner Club, The Oklahoma Bar Association, Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, All Souls Episcopal Church, was a former trustee at Casady School and a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by sister, Margot Wallace and is survived by his son, John C. Harrington, III, of OKC; daughter, Katie Kimberling, Norman; sister, Deane H. Oven, Tulsa; nieces, Margot Oven, Calif., Deane Wallace, OKC, Devin Covington, OKC; nephews, Herbert C. Oven, Jr., Tulsa, and Peter Oven, Tulsa. A memorial service celebrating John's life will be held Saturday, July 6th, at 11:00 a.m., at All Souls Episcopal Church, 6400 N. Pennsylvania Ave., OKC 73116. Robinson Ave., OKC 73102; or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF), 825 NE 13 St., OKC 73104.

I loved playing tennis with John. He was a gentleman on and off the court.

I met John at The Mansion at Waterford. There wasn't an event or activity he did not attend. As life gave him lemons he persevered and made the most.
