Aug 31, 1932 - Feb 20, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY LeeRoy Mitchell, 80, born 31 August 1932, passed away on Wednesday, 20 February 2013. LeeRoy was a retired Oklahoma City Firefighter, with 28 years of service, and he was a 32nd Degree Mason. Prior to joining the fire department and during off days while with the fire department, he was also an installation contractor with Sears and Montgomery Ward. Everyone knew him to be a man of his word — his word was his bond. He was devoted to taking care of his immediate family and was the patriarch of the Mitchell family for several decades. He loved being a firefighter and playing practical jokes on people. He is survived by three daughters, Marta Kay Conant and husband Don, Vicki Stowe, and ReDawna Heckart and husband Rod; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beatrice Mitchell; two children, LeReta and baby girl; two grandchildren, Jason Brown and Teddie Stowe; son-in-law, Freddie Stowe; one sister, Velma Pitts; and four brothers, Leonard Mitchell, Lloyd Mitchell, Lonnie Mitchell and Lawrence Mitchell. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, 25 February 2013, at John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, located at 120 S Broadway in Moore, OK. Interment was at Czech National Cemetery, Oklahoma City, OK, under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK.
