MARJORIE COLE Obituary
Sep. 22, 1928 - Mar. 20, 2014 LITTLE ROCK, AR Marjorie J. Cole, a longtime resident of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully after a brief illness in Little Rock, AR where she had recently moved.Marj was born Sep. 22, 1928 to Lambertus and Gert-rude Bouws in Holland, Michigan. After graduating from Bronson School of Nursing, University of Michigan she moved to Oklahoma City to serve in the Red Cross Disaster Service. She married George W. Cole on Nov. 10, 1962. She is survived by their three children Paul W. Cole, Houston, TX, Margaret Cole, Dallas, TX and George B. Cole and wife Candice, Little Rock, AR, grandsons Mathew and Mark, Houston, TX. She is also survived by two sisters, Carol O'Connell, Murpheesboro, TN and Lucille Ring, Buchanan, MI and 18 nieces and nephews. Marj was preceded in death by her husband and both parents. Marj was a member of St. Lukes United Methodist Church for over 50 Years. She earned her MS in Nursing at the University of Oklahoma. Over the years she was a nursing educator at Langston University, Oklahoma Baptist University, Southern Nazarene University, and the University of Central Oklahoma. She was Interim Chairman, School of Nursing, SNU, and was a member of the OK Nurses Assoc., NAACOG, and Sigma Theta Tau. Marj finally retired in the Spring, 2014.Marj was a world traveler and as an accomplished hostess, enjoyed entertaining her many friends and family.A Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 7, 1:00pm at the Watchhorn Chapel, St Lukes United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to: St Lukes United Methodist Church Music Fund.
