LoughlinJuly 30, 1929 - Nov 7, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Sister Mary dePorres was born to Henry Anthony Loughlin and Louvie Jane Hart Loughlin, of OKC, OK. In this loving family, Sister was third in line of four children, two brothers and one sister. She felt privileged to have had a Catholic education from 1st grade through College. She was educated by the Sisters of Mercy at Mount Saint Mary's, OKC, where she found the challenge of learning as exciting and joyful. Sister entered the Sisters of Mercy, Webster Groves, MO, on September 8, 1948, and made her first profession of vows on March 12, 1951. She received further education and earned degrees from Saint Mary's College, Kansas, and the University of Notre Dame, Indiana. Her joy-filled sprit touched the lives of many children, families, and parents throughout her life. Her ministry was serving as an educator in missions of Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Other ministries included Adult Religious Education, Stephen's Ministry, and volunteer work at Mount Saint Mary High School and Mexican American Catholic College. Sister was a person who lived a spirit of accepting everyone she met. She used her gifts generously and lovingly as animated by her Foundress, Catherine McAuley, who always balanced joy, sorrows, trials, and a timely sense of humor. Sister was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Patrick Henry Loughlin, and sister-in-law, Glenetta Jo; and two infant siblings. She is survived by her beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children, Mercy physicians, co-workers/caretakers, Mercy Associates, and Religious Sisters of Mercy. An Evening Prayer service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2013, at the Mercy Health Center Convent, OKC; and a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2013, at Mercy Health Convent, with interment following at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Memorial contributions may be made to Sisters of Mercy Retirement Center, 4300 W Memorial Rd, OKC, OK 73120; and/or Mount Saint Mary High School, 2801 S Shartel Ave, OKC, OK 73109.
