Bewley Feb 12, 1931 - July 22, 2014 OKLAHOMA CITY Norman Nelson Bewley, of Oklahoma City, passed away July 22, 2014, at the age of 83. He was born on Feb. 12, 1931, in Cordell, Oklahoma, to Paul and Mable Bewley. Norm proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring in 1974 as chief warrant officer 2nd class, specializing in aviation electronics. Following his military retirement, he began selling real estate and loved it. In addition, he enjoyed remodeling and restoring houses. Norm and Rosa have owned, lived in and/or restored sixty homes. Norm kept busy and was constantly on the move, fulfilling his desire of remaining sharp and staying active. He was the driving force of his family. He had one hobby and that was doing for his family. Norm loved his family and was extremely close to all of them and enjoyed traveling with them. Norm truly believed that charity began and ended at home. Norm wasn't just a dad to his kids - he lost his son, Philip, and became a father-figure to his grandson and granddaughter and served as a role model for them. He had a philosophy of helping anyone who would help themselves. Norm was well-respected and deeply loved by all his family as well as his friends. He transcended all generations, the true measure of a great man. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosa Janko Bewley, of the home; two children, Rick Bewley & wife Tracey, of OKC; and Kathy Griffith & husband Steve, of OKC; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Ellis & husband Craig, of OKC; Jack Nelson Bewley & wife Nicole, of OKC; Lonny McMillan & wife Jennifer, of Moore; Kay Rochester & husband Josh, of OKC; Kyle McMillan, of Moore; Michael Bewley & wife Kirby, of Moore; and Lacey Evans & husband Chase, of OKC; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne Bewley & wife Vonnie, of Moore; three sisters, Shirley Myers & husband Jimmy, of OKC; Jerilyn Hart, of Tecumseh; and Sharon Culp & husband Ray, of Del City; and and a host of other loving family members and friends. Norm was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Philip Bewley. Funeral Services are at 2 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Moore. Interment to follow at Czech Cemetery, OKC. Services are under direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home, Moore, OK.
