Whaley, Jr. May 1, 1927 - August 10, 2014 CLEVELAND, OK Orb Webster Whaley, Jr. ran into the arms of His Savior on August 10, 2014 in Tulsa. The Cleveland, Oklahoma resident was the fourth child of Orb and Ludie Whaley born on May 1, 1927 in Sapulpa. As a 1945 Antlers High School graduate he served his country voluntarily in the United States Marine Corps as an enlisted man in WWII and a USMC officer in the Korean War. After graduating from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1949, he married the love of his life, Billie Frances Gardner, in Antlers on July 4, 1951. After his second tour in the Marine Corps, he went to work for Western Auto as a store manager in Oklahoma City. He moved up through the Western Auto corporate structure as a retail sales manager relocating to Wichita, Kansas, having responsibility for all company-owned stores in Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico and Colorado. In 1967 he purchased the Western Auto store in Cleveland which he ran for 23 years. His quiet faith and love for Christ was demonstrated in all he did in his home and work. He was passionate about his family. He is survived by his living legacy: his wife of 63 years, Frances of the home; his son Mike and wife Peggy of Blanchard; his son Steve and wife Callie of Rogers, Arkansas; and his son Phillip and wife Ashton of Edmond. Orb requested that donations be made to his favorite cause: The Gideons International, P. O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800.
