Feb 14, 1925 - Dec 30, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Wesley James Crone died on December 30, 2013. He was a retired architect and a retired loan guaranty officer from the U.S. Veterans Administration. Wesley served active duty on the USS Broadbill, U.S. Navy minesweeper, and LSM(R) rocket ship at Cherburg on D-Day in WWII. He married Eva Lee Campbell on July 28, 1946. In 1948, he entered Oklahoma University at Norman, Oklahoma, and graduated from OU in 1954. In 1959, he received his architectural license. In 1969, he became a loan guaranty officer for the VA in Muskogee, Roanoke, and Albuquerque. In retirement, Wesley was active in the Oklahoma Art Guild, Mid-Del Art Guild, Oklahoma Watercolor Association, and was active in the YMCA. He was Scoutmaster and was Awarded Silver Beaver. He was an active Lay Leader with the United Methodist Men and received the John Wesley Fellow Award in 2012. Wesley is survived by his wife, Eva Crone, at Epworth Villa; two sons: Bruce Crone and his wife Anie Lamb Crone, Gore, OK; and Paul Crone and his wife Linda Plunk Crone, Edmond, OK; a daughter, Lisa Crone-Sheldon and her husband Allen Sheldon, Oklahoma City; and two grandsons: Andrew Tolly, Oklahoma City; and David Crone, Edmond, OK. A memorial service celebrating Wesley's earthly life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Epworth Villa Chapel. Memorials may be made to the St. Luke's UMC Foundation.
