WILLIAM CARTER Obituary

Jan 1, 1924 - June 8, 2013 MIDWEST CITY William Lee "Bill" Carter, Sr., 89, of Midwest City, died Saturday, June 8, 2013, in Norman. The son of Carl and Opal (Harrison) Carter, he was born January 1, 1924, in Cardwell, Missouri. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base, where he worked as a supply technician for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bill spent countless hours collecting cans and gave the money that he got for them to his favorite charity, St. Jude. During his life, Bill was blessed with four wives; they all preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, one son, one granddaughter, and many other family and friends. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Yelton and husband Phillip, of Moore; and a son, William Lee "Bill" Carter, Jr., of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters, one brother, and many other loved ones and friends. Before he died, Bill told his family, "Don't mourn or shed tears for me, I've had a blessed life." Graveside funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at the Blanchard Cemetery. Bill believed that people should send flowers to the living, when they can still enjoy them. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude in Bill's memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com www.eisenhourfh.com

Bye Daddy, you are gone now but not forgotten. We had your funeral today. You would have been pleased with it. Your grandchildren were all there but Stacie and she lives out of state now. You outlived all your friends but Jim. Bill did a good job speaking and you would have been proud of him. Now I have to let you go. I got so use to visiting you at the nursing home and then the hospital. Now you are gone for good. You are in a better place. I hope you know that we did the best we could for you. You were in our thoughts every day and you will be still for many years to come. Now you are with mom and your two daughters, Sandy and Shirley plus your first son. You said that a parent should never have to bury their children but you had to bury 3 children. I know that was painful for you. Go now and rest in peace. We will miss you. We will always love you and remember you.
