West Point, NE. Died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at his home. He was born March 22, 1927 on a farm near West Point, to Bernard and Anna (Uhing) Stalp. He was a graduate of Guardian Angels High School in West Point and a graduate of the St. Louis College of Mortuary Science in St. Louis, MO. Ben started the Stalp Funeral Home in West Point in 1952. He then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from January 29, 1953 to December 16, 1954. He returned home and reopened the Stalp Funeral Home, which he operated for 46 years, until retiring in 2000. Ben was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at West Point, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #4912 of West Point. He was a former member of the Nebraska Funeral Directors Association, and the National Funeral Directors Association. He is survived by sisters, Lucille Miller, Fort Worth, TX, Carol Revel, San Rafael, CA, and Mary Ann Kelly, Roswell, NM; brother, Henry "Hank" Stalp, Fountain Hills, AZ; sister-in-law, Illa Stalp, West Point; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Stalp; and sisters, Dolores Stalp and Sally Lubker.
MEMORIAL MASS 10:30am, Monday, April 8, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, with the Rev. Fr. Gerald Gonderinger officiating. There is No Visitation. Interment will be at a later date.
