Mapleton, Iowa. Died Monday, November 11, 2013 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa due to complications from esophageal cancer.
Charles Andrew was born December 5, 1966 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE the son of Jim and Susan (Zarp) Hutfless. He grew up in Omaha, and graduated from Central High School in 1985. Charlie and Denise Sanchez were united in marriage on October 14, 1989 in Las Vegas, NV. Charlie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1987 and was stationed the majority of the time at Camp Pendleton, California and served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After seven years of devoted service, he was honorably discharged on April 16, 1994.
Charlie and Denise moved to Omaha on May 1, 1993. After many years and miscarriages, they were miraculously able to have three beautiful children, Daniel, John, and Nikki and he cherished them. He worked as an auto body collision technician in Omaha for seventeen years and loved restoring vehicles. On April 1, 2012 Charlie started working as manager for Timber Ridge Ranch near Castana, Iowa. He loved spending time in the outdoors and everything Timber Ridge has to offer, riding the trails on atvs, cutting wood, camping, breakfast at the Lodge, and many other activities. Charlie managed Timber Ridge until March 1, 2013, the day he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and reverentially died on Veteran's Day.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Denise of Mapleton, IA; two sons and one daughter, Daniel, John, and Nikki all of Mapleton; his mother, Susan Zarp of Omaha; his father, Jim (Sheri) Hutfless of Hermiston, OR; mother-in-law, Racheal Sanchez of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Brian Hutfless of Omaha; brother-in-law, David (Nikki) Sanchez of Tustin, CA; and sister-in-law, Debbie Sanchez of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his sister, Heather M. Hutfless.
FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11am Friday, November 15, 2013 at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Harvey Hanson officiating and Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Corps, American Legion David McNeill Post #129 of Onawa IA, and Monona County VFW Post #2694. VISITATION will be 5-7pm Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa. ADDITIONAL SERVICES will be 11am Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Shadow Lake Community Church (Reality Church) in Papillion, Nebraska with Pastor Lance Burch officiating and Military Honors provided by Harry Bossard American Legion Post #32 of Papillion, NE. VISITATION will be 10am until service time at the church. Per Charlie's wishes, cremation will take place following services. Condolences may be left online at:
