Gretna, NE. Died Saturday at age 78 at Alegent Creighton Health Midlands Hospital in Papillion, NE. James was born to Elmer and Elsie Faris in Mary-ville, MO. He grew up on a farm near Graham, MO. He married Karen Hanna at the Maryville Methodist Church on December 23, 1956. He attended Northwest Missouri University and Louisiana State University. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and then joined the Army Reserves. Preceeding him in death were his parents, Elmer and Elsie Faris; brothers, Arthur Faris, Harold Faris, Leonard Faris, Adam Faris, and Bryce Faris; and sisters, Roberta Neff, and Esther Granaman. Survived by his wife Karen Faris; daughter Teresa Faris, sons, Kristen (Jody) Faris, and Thomas Faris; grandchildren, Steven (Jamie) Faris, Michaela (Tony) Bernini, Ian Anderson, Karissa (Jim) Thompson, and Lauren Faris; great grandchildren, Peighton Thompson, Ryder Liebentritt, Aryanna Petty, and Lucas Petty; brothers, Edwin Faris, and George Faris of Colorado; sisters, Marie Tatum, Neva Jones, and Sarah Dawson of Arizona; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Jim enjoyed being a salesman on the road or in his store helping his customers with their paint, carpet or hardware needs. His lifelong hobby was playing and teaching golf. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends and always had a story to share.
GRAVESIDE SERVICES will be held at Memorial Gardens, Maryville, MO at 2pm Tuesday, October 30.
