Died January 21, 2014, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was with his family in his hometown, Omaha. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Flora; his son Eugene, daughter-in-law Naomi, grandchildren, Sofia, Ryder, and Riley of Novato, California; and his daughter Pamela of Reston, Virginia. He is also survived by his three brothers, Daniel, Nick and Robert Evon, and his sister Maria Moss, all of Omaha. Ray graduated from South High School, University of Nebraska, and earned his MBA from Boston University. He was a tax officer for the First National Bank in Lincoln before launching a career in the federal government, with leadership roles in the National Park Service in Omaha and Boston, and postings in Italy and Virginia with US Army Corps of Engineers. He retired to Florida from US Department of State in Washington, DC in 1998. An Army veteran, he was active in American Legion, Sons of Italy, AARP, NARFE, and as a devout Catholic, was most proud of his involvement with the Knights of Columbus.
FUNERAL MASS will be held Friday, January 24, 2014, 10:30am at St. Patrick's Cathoic Church, Elkhorn. VISITATION will be Thursday from 2-7pm with family receiving friends from 5-7pm, and a Rosary service at 7pm, all at the funeral home in Elkhorn. Interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Elkhorn with military honors by Benson VFW Post #2503. Memorials may be given to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st St., Ste 800, Miami, FL 33131. Condolences to:
