ALFONSO CORDOVA REQUEJO Obituary
Requejo, Alfonso Cordova, passed away at his Anaheim home on Monday July 29, 2013 with his wife and son by his side. He was born March 8, 1928 in Long Beach, CA. Graduated from Anaheim High School (class of 1946). He was a gifted athlete (track) and musician (alto sax). Joined the Marine Corps and fought in the Korean War. He was a Staff Sgt. and Drill Instructor. Played in the Marine Band and Marched in a number of parades. Enjoyed sports (softball, bowling, golf). Was a 28 year employee of the Anaheim Union High School District. Worked at Katella High School as the Equipment Manager. Retired in 1993. Enjoyed trips to Lake Tahoe and Golf vacations. Was a one time president of Maga (Mexican American Golf Assoc.). Alfonso (Al, Ali, Tio, Ponche, Rocky) was a beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his father, Francisco Diaz Requejo and mother, Elisa Cordova Requejo; sisters, Jessica Fuentes and Silvia Tovar. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ruth; son, Robert (Susan); granddaughter, Caryn (Michael); grandson, Jeb (Sarah); and great-grandson, Oliver. Services will be held at St. Norbert's in Orange on Aug. 9th at 10am.
