Ness, Carmen O., passed away on October 20 in Newport Beach, CA. Born March 13, 1928 in Linn Grove, Iowa, he was the first in his family to finish college. After graduating from Buena Vista College and serving in the military during the Korean war, Carmen went on to earn graduate degrees from the University of Iowa and Indiana University. His academic career started at Long Beach State University, but he moved to several other universities and moved up the academic ranks until becoming a Dean at Wichita State University. In 1975 he left academia, moved back to California and started a new career in business, where he was a successful executive in the health care industry for 15 years. Carmen was an avid golfer, a baseball fan and a loving father and grandfather.
Carmen is survived by his wife, Maggie; sons, Scott and Derek; daughter, Mindy; and grandchildren, Kelly, Gregory, Sara and Sabrina. He is also survived by a brother, Larry and a sister, Evelyn Bollinger.
