Craig Russell Cornell, 64, of Cypress, passed away May 16 after a six month battle with liver cancer.

Born March 7, 1950 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Clayton W. Cornell (deceased) and Betty J. Cornell, he graduated from Pacifica High School (Garden Grove) in 1968, served in the Air Force Reserves as a young man. Craig married Bobbie Thurston in 1972 and together they had a son, Aaron. Craig later married Christy Thorley and had two daughters, Jennifer and Kerrie.

Craig obtained his associates degree from Long Beach City College at the age of 34. He was an environmental engineer for Wahlco Inc. of Santa Ana. Craig was an avid reader and played bass guitar for the band Dangerous Curves. He is survived by his mother, Betty J. Cornell of Santa Ana; his brother, Clayton Cornell and sister in law Carol, of Murrietta, CA; his first wife, Bobbie Hobbs of Huntington Beach; his second wife, Christy Cornell of Cypress; his son, Aaron Cornell and daughter in law Stephanie of Lakewood, CA; his daughter, Jennifer Franklin and son in law Michael of Corona; his daughter, Kerrie Cornell of Cypress. Also surviving are his three precious grandchildren, Hayley and Nathan Franklin and Ezra Cornell, along with nephew Cameron Cornell and niece Caylee Cornell. Craig leaves behind many, many friends whose lives he touched in his unique and caring way.
