FRANK A. VLACILEK Obituary
Vlacilek, Frank A., 75, of Anaheim, California, passed away on February 26, 2013 at his home after a 17 year battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Frank was born to Frank and Louise Vlacilek in Ennis Texas on June 6, 1937. After graduating high school, he joined the Army and served our country for 20 years during which time he suffered combat wounds in Vietnam and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts. Upon retirement from the Army, he moved his family to Orange County and lived the remainder of his life in Anaheim. He was subsequently employed by the County of Orange from which he retired after 20 years and also by the City of Anaheim where he was a part time security guard (he was never one to sit idle). When not working, and after full retirement, Frank greatly enjoyed fishing and taking cross country motor trips with his wife. He was a loving and very devoted family man and known by all to be a "gentleman". He is survived by his wife, Mariann; daughters, Cheryl and granddaughter McKinsey, and Patricia, her husband Nick and grandson Nicholas; his son Frank Jr. and his wife Mary Jane and step-children Steven and Jennifer, daughter-in-law, Shontel and also his step-sons, Anthony Burkhardt and Dana Lorton and their large families. Frank extended his heart also to his wife's family both in California and Indiana and over the years became Grandpa and Papa to many too numerous to mention and by whom he is dearly loved. He is also survived by his nieces, Sandra and Diane and their families in Texas. The Memorial will be held on Wednesday, March 6th at 10 a.m. at Hilgenfeld Mortuary in Anaheim with a procession to follow to Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside where he will be received with full military honors. His wife has asked all to please wear red as Frank was not fond of black and favored bright colors. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Companion Hospice Care who tenderly cared for him in his home during his declining weeks. Hilgenfeld Mortuary
