Virginia "Ginny" Perez (nee Gallentine), 65, was born in Morrison, IL and lived there until she finished high school. She graduated from Dubuque University in Iowa with an education degree, and later a Master' degree from Azusa Pacific University. She taught for 32 years in Illinois and California. In the Santa Ana school district she taught at four middle schools. It was at Lathrop that she met her husband, Tony. They were married for 28 years. She was an excellent teacher, twice being named "Teacher of the Year". After retiring, she remained active in the community through the Elks Club (named "Elk of the month in 2007, and Citizen of the Year in 2012.) She volunteered at Mary's Kitchen, an organization that fed homeless in the Orange and Santa Ana communities.

She will also be missed by many friends, her nieces and nephew and 9 grand nieces and nephews, as well as all of Tony's brothers, sisters, and their children. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family would appreciate contributions to the in Ginny's name.

A celebration of Ginny's life will be held the second weekend in January. Date and place TBD.
