GRACE ALICE "GAY" (YUNKER) MORGAN Obituary
Morgan, Grace Alice Yunker (Gay), 88, of Huntington Beach, California died Sunday, May 11, 2014 at home. Born on February 1, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Loretta Coppock and George Yunker, Gay was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Morgan, and sisters, Georgia and Shirley.

Gay met her husband, Bob, at Calumet High School in Chicago while working on the school newspaper together. They both attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before Bob left to join the navy. Bob's career in the navy took them and their three children to many exciting places before they ended up in California in the early eighties. Throughout her life Gay enjoyed traveling, making friends wherever she lived, cooking, playing bridge, and being close to the water.

Gay was a realtor for several years in Fairfax, Virginia and Houston, Texas, an active military wife, a former member of the Huntington Beach Yacht Club, a past secretary & treasurer of the Sea Belles, and a member of the St. Mary's Bridge Club. She loved fishing with her children and grandchildren and playing games and teaching card games to them. A dog lover, Gay rescued many dogs during her lifetime.

Gay is survived by her daughter, Trudy Duckfield of Hot Springs, Arkansas; sons, Robert G. Morgan and wife, Marsha, of Leland, North Carolina, and Steven D. Morgan and wife, Lan, of Anaheim Hills, California. She is survived by six grandchildren, Stephen Salisbury of Paris, France and husband, Gerard Buhl, Alexis Stewart of Danville, California, Meghan Corwin of Haymarket, Virginia, Dr. Robert Morgan, Jr. and wife, Melanie, of Durham, North Carolina, Ellen Morgan of Houston, Texas, and Peter Morgan and wife, Anna, of Port Orange, Florida. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, Joey Ruppel and Gabrielle and Madeline Corwin of Haymarket, Virginia, and Jack and Jacob Stewart of Danville, California and nephews, Greg and Gary Deatsman.

Gay's family wants to express their love and gratitude to Annette Merriam and Carol Taylor for the love and care they gave to Gay. Gay's family appreciates the loving care given by April and other staff members of Hospice of Huntington Beach.
